Heart Pop Tarts

Day 326 (21st July)

I love pop tarts. Here's the recipe for these delicious strawberry pop tarts:

Recipe (Serves Two)

  • 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup of cold, cubed butter

  • 1 to 2 teaspoons of cold water

  • Two tablespoons of strawberry jam

  • Two teaspoons of milk

  • Two teaspoons of icing sugar

  • Two teaspoons of brown sugar

  • Three teaspoons of melted butter

For the glaze:

  • Two teaspoons of icing sugar

  • One teaspoon of milk

(Instructions: Combine them using a spoon.)

1) In a food processor, add flour and butter.

2) Pulse for about five seconds until just combined.

3) Add one teaspoon of water at a time (until you get pea-sized pieces).

4) Knead the dough with your hands until just combined.

5) Let the dough chill in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.

6) Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

7) Roll the dough out to about 1/2 an inch thickness.

8) Cut 4-6 small circles/hearts using cookie cutters.

9) Add about half a tablespoon of jam to the middle of half of the circles/hearts.

10) Add another circle/heart on top.

11) Seal the edges using a fork to make indentations.

12) Combine the milk and sugar in a bowl.

13) Brush the pastries with the milk and sugar mixture.

14) Sprinkle some brown sugar on top of each pastry.

15) Bake the pop tarts for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.

16) Brush them with melted butter.

17) Top with the glaze and sprinkles.

18) Enjoy warm!
